I am a trauma specialist, advocate for survivors, heart healer, and companion on your journey to wellness. I help people who have been hurt and who want to feel whole again but fear that this is not possible.
I help people who want to feel safe again, sleep without nightmares and feel more at ease. I support them so that they can feel like themselves again or get in touch with themselves in a new way. Every day in my office I see hope and healing take place.
My clients thank me for being someone they can trust with their story, and sometimes the only one in their life they have trusted enough to tell. They thank me for believing in them and not giving up on them, even when they feel like giving up on themselves. They thank me for seeing the goodness in them, even when they feel shamed and fearful of rejection. They thank me for believing in their relationships and marriages, and seeing the love that they have for their partner.
I specialize in working with adults with complex trauma, dissociation using a variety of advanced and creative EMDR protocols. I am a Certified EMDR therapist and an EMDR Consultant. I also provide consultation to EMDR therapists who are learning the therapy or who are wanting to advance their skills through EMDRIA Certification.
I like to see people smile and be happy. I like to see that “aha” moment when they realize it is not their fault, realizing they are stronger than they thought, and capable of loving themselves and being loved.
In addition to working working with adults with trauma, I also provide couples therapy. I love helping couples find their way back to each other, strengthen the love that they have and change patterns of disconnect so they can feel hopeful again. I have been trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), a research based and extremely effective therapy for helping couples find joy in their relationship again.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my husband and our adult children and step children. I love outdoor adventures with my yellow Labrador Retriever named Hanna, exploring the beautiful Northwest and beyond.
I believe that when one person heals from trauma it has a ripple effect. This positive effect touches not only their life but their relationships with friends and family, changing our community and the world! That is why I started Vancouver EMDR Therapy, PLLC.
