Lemecia Lindsey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Washington Approved Clinical Supervisor for therapists. She abides by the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.
Lemecia has a gentle approach to support supervisees in their learning process and growth. She helps supervisees by focusing their attention on the therapeutic relationship they have with clients, to self-reflect on their own experiences, body sensations and emotions coming up in the counseling relationship with clients, assessment and diagnosis and interventions. She assists supervisees to focus on conceptualization of client issues.
Supervision focuses on the supervisee’s strengths, reflective activities to help supervisees find their own answers and self-assessment as well as supervision assessment. Lemecia uses Psychodynamic supervision that is collaborative and relational to empower the supervisee. She believes that the clinical therapeutic relationship promotes change for clients and sees supervisees and the change agent. Lemecia uses curiosity to help supervisees develop a narrative (sense of) who they are as counselors including exploring their own family of origin issues that can play out in their therapeutic relationship with clients and in supervision.
Lastly, Lemecia uses social justice principles, helping supervisees to explore their clients “social location” and supervisees biases, misconception and privilege as it relates to counter transference manifested in therapy. The power differential between supervisee and client is also taken into consideration.
