Good Faith Estimate
The No Surprises Act is a federal law that went into effect on January 1, 2022. The purpose of this law is to protect clients and patients from unexpected medical bills. If you will be paying “out of pocket” and not using insurance for your sessions and won’t be seeking reimbursement through your insurance company (using a Superbill) then under the law your are entitled to request a Good Faith Estimate. A Good Faith Estimate is a estimate of anticipated costs for your health and/or mental health care.
It is difficult to determine the true length of treatment for your mental health needs, and each client has a right to decide how long they would like treatment. Your therapist will provide you with information about your session fees and a recommendation for frequency of sessions and length of treatment. You will then be able to calculate your fees for services. Your therapist will collaborate with you on a regular basis to determine how many sessions and what services you may need. Your therapist will provide you with a copy of your Good Faith Estimate upon request.
