Hello! My name is Lemecia Lindsey (she/her) and I am glad that you are here. Because my name is a little bit different, this is how it is pronounced (La-me-sha).
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified EMDR therapist, EMDR Consultant and LENS Neurofeedback provider. I am the owner of Vancouver EMDR Therapy in Vancouver Washington. I have been providing mental health services in Vancouver, WA since 2009 and specializing in EMDR therapy since 2012. I provide in person and telehealth sessions to Washington residents and telehealth to Oregon residents.
For more than 20 years, I have been helping people recover from traumatic life events, heal from past wounds and develop improved relationships with those that they love and a greater loving connection to themselves. I help people who are struggling, not feeling good, who carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and are not living the lives that they would like to live. I help them to feel safe again, sleep without nightmares and feel more at ease. I support them so that they can feel like themselves again or get in touch with themselves in a new way. Every day in my office I see hope and healing take place.
Rather than teaching clients to “cope” with their symptoms, I help them to heal.
Often “talk therapy” is not enough to help people feel better! Most people struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, chronic stress etc. are experiencing nervous system dis-regulation and need to do more than just talk about it. They tend to benefit from mind + body approaches that offer deep and lasting healing. I use EMDR therapy and LENS Neurofeedback in my treatment approach. The combination of these approaches helps clients to stabilize quicker, be able to do the “work” of therapy, feel more resilient to stressors and sustain greater long-term treatment outcomes when therapy is over. I want to provide you with hope that healing can take place for you, that you can recover from painful life events and your life can be transformed.
I too have stepped into the door of a counseling office. My therapy experience in my early 20’s is what lead me to want to be a therapist myself. It was a supportive and life changing experience for me and inspired me to help others. I have a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the clients that I work with. I am honored to be able to “hold space” for them and witness their personal healing and life transformation.
I walk with clients on their healing journey using a compassionate and non-pathologizing approach. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I will support you on your journey to wellness. As a “trauma informed” therapist, I will create a safe place for you to share your story, explore your goals for therapy and develop an individualized approach for our work together. I welcome clients of all sexual orientations, lifestyles, cultural and religious backgrounds.
When I’m not at work, I savor the quiet moments of an early morning with a cup of coffee, the soothing sound of nature in my backyard, and the simple pleasure of watching a good Netflix movie or reading a book. I find peace in “keeping it simple,” practicing compassionate and mindfulness practices and spending time outdoors. My greatest joy, however, comes from being with my husband, our dog Hanna, our blended family of four adult children, and our three granddaughters.
